Sandtown is a community in West Baltimore with a storied history. A flourishing area and music hot-spot in the 50s and 60s that eventually turned to slums when the economy went bad. In 1986, a group of neighbors decided to rebuild the community, launching a profound and long-term effort. Out of this setting, an unusual group of children emerged... A children's choir, now simply known as Sandtown, focused their boundless energy into performing and singing their story. Based On A True Story, Sandtown's debut release, tells the story in the form of modern urban music. The CD also features an exclusive 15 minute enhanced video of their unique ministry and outreach, with guest appearances from tobyMac, Michael W. Smith, CeCe Winans, Lisa Kimmey (Out of Eden), and The Katinas.
